Elon Musk tweeted and deleted that the ‘Muslim immigration ban is not right’

Musk sits on two Trump advisory boards.

Elon Musk took a stand against what many are calling a “Muslim ban” in a series of tweets on Wednesday. Except, just minutes after Musk tweeted saying “the Muslim immigration ban is not right,” he deleted the three-part tweet.

A third tweet read: “Regarding gov’t policy, there are often things that happen that many people don’t agree with. This is normal for a functioning democracy.”

According to Musk, these were earlier drafts that he accidentally published.

Musk sits on two Trump advisory boards and previously defended remaining on the boards in the wake of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick’s decision to step down. According to Musk, engaging with policymakers doesn’t mean agreeing. In fact, both SpaceX and Tesla joined a number of Silicon Valley companies in filing an amicus brief against the immigration ban.

Musk also said that he made sure the ban was discussed during the advisory board’s first meeting with Trump.
