Amazon’s new sort-of Twitter clone is called Pulse, part of the Twitch videogame-streaming platform that Amazon bought in 2014. “It’s way too early to guess where Pulse is going, and I suspect even Twitch may not know,” The Verge’s Casey Newton writes. “But if there’s a more interesting new social network in the world, it’s news to me.” — [Casey Newton / The Verge]

Twitter, meanwhile, says its algorithmic personalized timeline, which features “thousands” of ranking signals, has been working, both at getting people to start using Twitter and at getting them to keep using it more frequently. Snap had its first down day in its young history as a public company. Shares fell more than 12 percent yesterday to $23.77, below their $24 opening price. The dip appears to be tied to a number of poor analyst ratings, including five “sell” ratings. — [Kurt Wagner / Recode]
