One of Twitter’s longest-tenured board members, Peter Fenton, is leaving

He has been on the board since 2009.

One of Twitter’s longest-tenured board members, Benchmark’s Peter Fenton, is leaving the board after the company’s upcoming annual shareholders meeting in May, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

Fenton’s term on the board was up, and he and the company have a “mutual agreement” that he won’t seek re-election, according to the filing.

Fenton has been a key member of Twitter’s board since 2009, and has seen the company transition through multiple CEOs in that time. Other board members — including chairman Omid Kordestani, Marjorie Scardino and Bret Taylor — are also up for re-election.

A Twitter spokesperson directed Recode to the filing when asked for comment.
