Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, spoke at the TED conference in Vancouver last Friday, where he offered a first glimpse into his new project, The Boring Company, which aims to dig a network of underground tunnels to reduce traffic congestion.

Musk dreamed up the idea for the new tunnel project while sitting in Los Angeles traffic. During his talk, the serial entrepreneur shared a brief video of how the new underground tunnel network would work. He showed a system where cars are lowered underground from roads with an elevator. A car would then park on a platform that skates through a tunnel, traveling up to 130 miles per hour.
