Ann Lai, a former employee of the venture capital firm Binary Capital that is at risk of shutting down, is suing the firm and its co-founder Justin Caldbeck for defamation and making false claims to block her from getting new work after she left.

Lai left the firm last year and alleges that she did so in part because of a sexist work environment and learning of what the suit describes as “disturbing information about Caldbeck’s treatment of women.” Bloomberg first reported on the lawsuit.

Caldbeck first took a leave and then resigned from Binary in the past week after six women came forward and accused Caldbeck of unwanted sexual advances and — in one instance — groping.

Recode later reported that another female founder, Stitch Fix CEO Katrina Lake, had complained about Caldbeck at his previous firm, Lightspeed, and had him removed as a board observer.

Here’s Lai’s full complaint against Binary Capital and Caldbeck.
