How to livestream the Golden Globes tonight

It’s officially awards season: The Golden Globes, hosted by comedian Seth Meyers, will air Sunday night on NBC at 8 pm ET.

The good news is you don’t need a television in order to watch one of the biggest awards shows for TV and film.

The bad news is you still need some kind of pay TV subscription if you plan to watch online, either through a cable provider or through some kind of over-the-top service like YouTube TV or DirecTV Now.

You can watch the Globes at NBC’s website or using one of NBC’s apps for iOS or Android, or through connected set-top boxes like Roku or Apple TV. You can see the full list of NBC apps here.

If you go this route, you’ll need to log in through your pay TV provider in order to watch. NBC says the digital streams will be available in 30-some markets, including the major markets like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and San Francisco, though the stream won’t be available in every market around the country.

If you don’t want to use the NBC app, you can also watch through a handful of TV streaming services, like YouTube TV, Hulu Live TV, Sling TV or Sony PlayStation Vue. You won’t need to authenticate with these services, of course, because you are already paying for them just like you would pay a cable TV provider.

The show should be an interesting one. It’s really the first major Hollywood event since the industry was rocked by numerous allegations of sexual harassment by some of its biggest stars, including actor Kevin Spacey and producer Harvey Weinstein. Many attendees plan to wear black as a sign of protest against sexual harassment.

The show starts at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT, and the pre-show starts two hours earlier. Here’s a list of all the nominees.
