Watch: CNN anchors stop reporting on suspicious packages to evacuate newsroom

CNN anchors Poppy Harlow and Jim Sciutto were reporting this morning on the recent bomb threats made to the Clintons and the Obamas.

Then they had to evacuate CNN’s New York studio when a fire alarm went off Wednesday morning after CNN received a suspicious package of its own.

Harlow and Sciutto, who had invited the FBI’s Tom Fuentes to comment on the explosive devices, were caught on air by the incident but didn’t interrupt the broadcast.

“Excuse me, that sounds like a fire alarm here, we’ll keep you posted on that,” Sciutto told viewers and continued to report on the bomb threats as the alarm sounded in the background.

Then, after a brief ad break, the broadcast cut to René Marsh from CNN’s Washington, DC, studio, who informed viewers that Time Warner Center, where the network’s New York offices are located, was successfully evacuated.

According to Shimon Prokupecz, CNN’s crime and justice reporter, the NYPD is currently investigating a “suspicious package” sent to the offices. Jake Tapper later tweeted that the explosive device was addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan, according to city and local law enforcement officials.

The incident happened just after reports that explosive devices were mailed to former President Barack Obama’s DC home and to Bill and Hillary Clinton’s home in upstate New York, and a day after a bomb was found in the mailbox of George Soros, the prominent progressive donor. It’s not yet clear if the incidents are related.
