The news today can be overwhelming. The stakes seem higher than ever, the headlines come at you fast, and it gets harder and harder to keep up with the most important stories of the day.

Do you ever get to the end of your work day and wonder what the hell just happened in the world? I know I do, and I work in the news.

If the push alerts and the tweets and the breaking news banners leave you with more questions than answers, then we have the podcast for you. Beginning Monday, February 19, Vox will be offering a daily news explainer podcast called Today, Explained.

Sean Rameswaram will take you on a deep dive through the most important stories of the day — anything from why Puerto Rico is still struggling to get power to what a nuclear attack would look like. This isn’t going to be like any news show you’ve heard before. Today, Explained will be informal, creative, and fun. You’ll hear that in the trailer, check it out:

Take us along on your evening commute Monday through Friday (not on the weekends) and our promise to you is that by the time you get home — or to happy hour — you’ll not only understand the biggest events happening in the world, you’ll be able to explain them to your family and friends.

Sean will be talking to all your favorite Vox explainers-in-residence and the smartest experts to make sense of these fascinating and rapidly changing times. It’s going to be an entertaining, unpredictable ride.
