Trump addresses Parkland, Florida, shooting: live stream and how to watch online

President Donald Trump will deliver a statement on the South Florida school shooting from the White House at 11 am Eastern on Thursday.

You can watch a live stream of the event on Youtube, via the White House. The speech will also be available to stream on Vox’s Facebook and Twitter starting at 11.

Seventeen students and adults were killed on Tuesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, after a gunman opened fire inside the building. The suspect, Nikolas Cruz, 19, was a former student at the school and is now in custody.

It’s not yet clear what Trump will say in his statement. After the Las Vegas shooting in October, Trump called the violence “an act of pure evil” and praised first responders.

The president tweeted a response to the Florida shooting Wednesday afternoon, offering “prayers and condolences.” “No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school,” he tweeted.

Thursday morning, he added that the shooter was “mentally disturbed” and that “neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem,” appearing to suggest the shooting might have been avoided if the community had reported him.
