AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson is coming to Code Conference

His giant media merger has become a high-stakes legal fight. We’ll hear all about it.

Peter Kafka covered media and technology, and their intersection, at Vox. Many of his stories can be found in his Kafka on Media newsletter, and he also hosts the Recode Media podcast.

AT&T’s Randall Stephenson runs a giant communications company, and he wants to make a giant move into the media business.

That alone would make him worth watching closely. But now that the Department of Justice is suing AT&T to block its proposed acquisition of Time Warner, Stephenson’s profile has only increased: Now he’s directly taking on the Trump administration in a high-stakes fight with important implications for the rest of the technology and media industries.

So Kara Swisher and I are delighted that Stephenson will be joining us at this year’s Code Conference, where he’ll be sitting down for one of our candid, unscripted Red Chair interviews. He’s joining a list of the world’s most important business leaders, including Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi and Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky.

We’re hosting this year’s event at the Terranea Resort, May 29-31. You can apply here to join us there.
