The rise of YouTube, Instagram, and other platforms has created a boom in kid millionaires — teens and tweens who are so famous among their young fans that they have more money than they know what to do with. Contrast that with those kids’ older Millennial siblings, who were devastated by the economic crash of 2008 and never fully recovered, and you just might have the makings of a very funny comedy.

That’s exactly what creators Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider did with their hilarious new Comedy Central series The Other Two. Drew Tarver and Heléne Yorke star as Cary and Brooke, a brother and sister in their early 30s, struggling to make something of their lives — when their 13-year-old brother Chase (Case Walker) becomes a YouTube superstar with the music video for his song “Kiss You at Recess.” With Chase moving out to New York to capitalize on his newfound fame, Cary and Brooke work both to connect with their younger brother and to find ways to use his fame to boost their own careers. Heartfelt and strange and very, very funny, The Other Two stakes an early claim to being the best new comedy of 2019.

“It’s raucously sex-positive and delightfully weird, but underlying is a love of the very culture it’s mocking. It’s exactly the comedy that’s needed now: funny, feel-good, and forgiving of humanity.” Hanh Nguyen, Indiewire

Metacritic score: 80 out of 100

Where to watch: New episodes of The Other Two air Thursdays at 10:30 pm Eastern on Comedy Central. Previous episodes are available on the network’s website.
