This week, Mark Cuban — investor, entrepreneur, author, and owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks — answers our questions.

What’s the first piece of media you consume every day?

My email.

Name a writer or publication you disagree with but still read.

Fox News and Breitbart.com

Who is the person who has most influenced the way you think?

My dad.

When was the last time you changed your mind about something?

It happens every day.

What’s your worst intellectual habit?

I’ll get half way through a book and then jump to another.

What inspires you to learn?

I’m competitive. I want to keep up and stay ahead. I also love to be challenged intellectually. I have to have a knowledge base from which to work in order to do so.

What do you need to believe in order to get through the day?

Nothing. I love my life. My problem isn’t getting through the day. Its that the days go by too quickly

What’s a view that you hold but can’t defend?

Other than thinking the Mavs will always win...? Probably my views on stocks and markets. The interconnection of markets and asset classes globally and the amount of research being applied by large investors and funds have made all “rules of thumb” transitory.

What book have you recommended the most?

The Fountainhead and, more recently, The Master Algorithm.

You can read last week’s edition of 9 Questions with Jessica Henwick here.
