It’s a hard truth to swallow that stress is part of life. Learning how to deal with stress is vital for living a balanced life. But how we deal with stress constantly changes — and some vape companies are angling to become part of that equation.
The science behind nicotine withdrawal
Some vape brands are hard at work convincing you that they’re the antidote to a problem they may be creating.
A recent survey found that it’s not uncommon for people to consider vaping nicotine when they feel stressed. And while nicotine is known to make us feed good, that euphoric feeling doesn’t last long.
Now your body associates feeling good with nicotine, which means, any time you don’t feel good, you may crave more nicotine. As your tolerance to nicotine increases, you need more nicotine to feel the same level of satisfaction — and if you don’t get it, nicotine withdrawal can set in. Here’s the kicker: Nicotine withdrawal is characterized by feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression. To make things worse, long-term stress alone can have lasting effects like depression, digestive problems, and, yep, anxiety.
In other words: Vaping nicotine can temporarily alleviate the symptoms it helped create. Maybe it’s time to find another way to destress.
