Former editorial director, audio – The Gray Area & Unexplainable

Jorge Just was an editorial director of audio. He worked on The Gray Area, Unexplainable, Explain It to Me, and The Highlight Podcast.

Before joining Vox, he was an executive editor at the award-winning podcast production company Gimlet, where he helped make, edit, produce, pilot, or host shows like Every Little Thing, Heavyweight, The Nod, and Uncivil, for which he won a Peabody Award.

Jorge helped create the sound, aesthetic, and editorial vision for Detour, an app for deeply immersive, highly produced location-based audio stories. He also spent time at Unicef developing RapidFTR, a mobile app for humanitarian workers trying to reunite separated families. For his work with the pioneering rock band OK Go, design legend Bill Moggridge profiled him as one of “37 significant figures in both traditional and new forms of mass communication,” alongside such slouches as Mark Zuckerberg and Jimmy Wales, in his book Designing Media.

In addition to editing, he occasionally makes stuff too. He considers his own podcast, Dysfunctional Family Storytime (The Lost Episodes), to be a highlight of the form, and he’s particularly proud of Shhh., his contribution to Circuit 2 of Audio Flux.
