Justin Marceau
Justin Marceau is a law professor at the University of Denver, where he specializes in animal law and criminal law. He has authored, co-authored, or edited three books with Cambridge University Press, including the award-winning book Truth and Transparency: Undercover Investigations in the Twenty-First Century (2023) (with Alan Chen). Justin has authored more than 50 academic articles, has litigated a variety of animal protection cases, and is involved in a variety of legislative efforts.
Before becoming interested in animal law, Justin worked as a capital defense lawyer. He continues to teach and research on topics relating to civil rights and criminal law, in addition to directing the animal law program at the University of Denver. Most recently, Justin helped found the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project, a legal clinic for activists facing criminal charges.
