Kim Slotterback is a copy editor and fact-checker who joined Vox full time in 2022. She previously freelanced for The Verge as well as Vox, having spent more than a decade as a freelance writer, editor, and copy editor for various digital media publications. She got a writing degree from Northern Michigan University and started in media in 2007 as a local newspaper reporter. She lives with her dog and cat in rural Michigan, where she can just about see her nearest neighbors’ house if they have the porch lights on, and prefers it that way.
