Harvey Weinstein’s brother Bob is now facing his own sexual harassment allegations

Bob Weinstein — the brother of Harvey Weinstein, who has so far been accused by nearly 50 women of sexual harassment or assault — is now facing harassment accusations of his own.

Amanda Segel, an executive producer for the Spike TV series The Mist, told Variety on Tuesday that Bob Weinstein repeatedly acted inappropriately toward her during production of the show for several months during the summer of 2016.

Segel said her attorney had to issue a notice to the Weinstein Company, which was producing The Mist, demanding that Weinstein stop his inappropriate behavior and threatening that Segel would leave the show if it didn’t.

“‘No’ should be enough,” Segel told Variety’s Cynthia Littleton. “After ‘no,’ anybody who has asked you out should just move on. Bob kept referring to me that he wanted to have a friendship. He didn’t want a friendship. He wanted more than that. My hope is that ‘no’ is enough from now on.”

Prior to these allegations — as the list of women accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault in the New York Times, the New Yorker, other news outlets, and via social media grew — Bob Weinstein vehemently condemned his “depraved” brother’s actions in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. Harvey has since been fired from the Weinstein Company, which the two brothers founded together in 2005, as well as expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Bob Weinstein said he was not aware of his brother’s alleged actions, and called him “indefensible and crazy,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. Weinstein, whose relationship with his brother could be described as strained at best, also spoke at length about the “inconsiderable suffering” Harvey has caused the women who have accused him of sexual harassment, abuse, or retaliation.

“I haven’t had a relationship with him as a brother for many, many years,” Bob said. “But I’m ashamed that he is my brother, to be honest, and I am ashamed that these are his actions. I’m not thinking at this moment about dissecting what may or may not have affected any past situation. I’m so in the here and now and feel sick.”

Meanwhile, he denies “any claims that he behaved inappropriately” toward Segel. Spike TV told Variety that it would investigate Segel’s complaint; she specifically described a June 2016 dinner that reportedly took place after Bob Weinstein asked other people whether she was single. According to Segel, Weinstein invited her to dinner, and she attended to establish a working relationship with him. She said he asked her several intimate questions during the dinner and “made romantic overtures,” asking her age so that, she says, he could avoid dating anyone younger than his daughter.

After dinner, Segel says she drove him to the Beverly Hills Hotel, where he was staying. She said she declined an invitation to join him in his room. After that, Weinstein persisted in contacting her about personal matters, but she said she refused his advances and declined invitations to his home.

According to Variety, this went on for several months, and ended with retaliatory behavior after Segel attended another dinner with Weinstein and brought along a male colleague. Shortly thereafter, following a public outburst where “Weinstein became angry and screamed at Segel” during a work meeting in front of other colleagues, Segel’s attorney issued the notice to the Weinstein Company.

Additionally on Tuesday, actress Jaime King accused Bob Weinstein on Twitter of threatening her after she refused to pose on the cover of Maxim magazine.
