New Senate Republican health care bill: read the full text

On Thursday morning, Senate Republicans released their revised health care bill: one that will keep Obamacare’s high-income taxes and allow bare-bones health insurance plans to be sold that wouldn’t have passed under the Affordable Care Act.

The new version of the bill includes a provision close to the one Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) proposed allowing health insurers to offer less robust coverage options as long as they also offer other options with more expansive coverage and benefits. It would also individuals to use health savings accounts to pay their premiums.

The new bill also includes funding for health insurers, a point of contention for conservative Sen. Rand Paul. It keeps the $112 billion in the original bill set aside to offset insurers’ bills for high-cost patients, and adds an additional $70 billion to that.
