Today is one of the biggest days on Facebook’s calendar: the start of F8, Facebook’s annual developer conference. Software developers from around the world have traveled to San Jose, California, to learn about Facebook’s latest technology initiatives and mingle with other programmers.

And the biggest event on the agenda is the keynote by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg may tout Facebook’s recent accomplishments, talk about his epic 6,000-word Facebook manifesto, and announce new Facebook technologies and initiatives. With Facebook closing in on 2 billion users, anything Zuckerberg announces is going to impact a lot of people.
Luckily, you don’t have to travel to California to see Zuck speak. Facebook has set up live stream page that’s open to the public. Facebook simply requires you to register using either your Facebook account or an email address. The speech is expected to begin at 10 am Pacific, which is 1 pm for those of us on the East Coast.
Zuckerberg will take the stage at a time of heightened awareness that Facebook is more than just a website: It has arguably become the most influential media platform in the world. In recent months, people have debated whether Facebook’s newsfeed algorithm affected the results of the 2016 presidential election. And just this week, a man broadcast video of a murder on Facebook’s platform. Expect Zuckerberg to acknowledge the massive social impact Facebook can have and make the case that his platform is ultimately a force for good in the world.
