Hillary Clinton’s highly anticipated campaign memoir just got a title and cover

It’s called What Happened.

Hillary Clinton’s highly anticipated campaign memoir officially has a title and cover. Her eighth book will be called What Happened and will reportedly focus on Clinton’s personal experience during and after the 2016 election.

According to a press release from publisher Simon & Schuster, the memoir is expected to be released in September 2017. In it, the former secretary of state, first lady, and Democratic presidential candidate will explore mistakes she made on the campaign trail and her “devastating” and unexpected loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential race. The publisher writes that it is Clinton’s most personal memoir yet.

In an excerpt from the intro, Clinton writes: “In the past, for reasons I try to explain, I’ve often felt I had to be careful in public, like I was up on a wire without a net. Now I’m letting my guard down.”

The press release states that Clinton will discuss “the challenges of being a strong woman in the public eye, the criticism over her voice, age, and appearance, and the double standard confronting women in politics.”

The memoir will reportedly take readers “inside the intense personal experience of becoming the first woman nominated for president by a major party” in an election ultimately “marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules.”
