While you’re waiting for Star Wars: Episode VII to hit theaters next December, check out this fan-made, mash-up version of The Empire Strikes Back.
The mash-up, The Empire Strikes Back Uncut, is a follow-up to 2010's Star Wars Uncut. Both projects were helmed by Casey Pugh, a creative technologist. Here's how it works: fans send 15 seconds of footage to Pugh's team of judges, who then select which ones will be used to recreate the film. Out of almost 2,000 submissions, about 480 were selected. In all, more than 1,000 fans collaborated to create the two-hour film.
The projects have already garnered a ton of attention. In 2010, StarWarsUncut.com won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media — Fiction. The newest film was even picked up by the official Star Wars website, and added to its YouTube channel.
