— Sean McElwee (@SeanMcElwee) August 21, 2014 From 2001 through 2011, fatal injuries related to legal intervention (arrest, suppressing disturbances, maintaining order) outnumbered criminal executions on the order of four-to-one — and the gap is widening.
McElwee drew data on fatal injuries from the CDC and data on criminal executions from the Death Penalty Information Center.
