Apple Releases watchOS 2 Operating System for Apple Watch

Updated apps should perform better because developers can now write apps that take advantage of the watch’s features.

Apple has released its watchOS 2 operating system for the Apple Watch a week after discovering a bug in the software that delayed its availability.

A spokesperson for the Cupertino technology company declined to say what glitch prompted Apple to postpone the software’s release.

The watchOS 2 offers more watch faces, new forms of customization and apps that should perform better because developers can now write apps that take advantage of the watch’s features, including its heart rate sensor, accelerometer and microphone.

Updates to the software will let Apple Watch wearers respond to email from their wrists, add up to 12 friends to their circles of contacts and make payments with the Discover card through Apple Pay.
