Apple’s advances in augmented reality highlight its real advantage over Google

Apple’s mobile operating system, or iOS, works the same and runs the same on every iPhone. That’s why app developers often prefer building for Apple before they build for Google’s Android, an operating system that’s splintered across different kinds of hardware. While the latest versions of Android consistently run on higher-end phones like the Google Pixel, cheaper and older phones often only run previous versions.

That’s decent growth for Apple Music, which was launched just two years ago. Apple is also trying to supplement its music streaming service with TV-quality video shows, like a “Carpool Karaoke” spinoff it plans to release in August.

Apple announced on Monday that it is launching a money-transfer service that could challenge Venmo and other competitors, letting iPhone and iPad users send money digitally to each other via a text.
The new feature will appear automatically inside Apple Messages, the company’s messaging product, when Apple launches the new version of its mobile operating system, iOS 11, this fall, a spokesperson said.

It’s official: Amazon Prime Video is coming to Apple TV


Amazon and Apple have finally come to an agreement to bring Amazon’s video app to the Apple TV streaming box, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced at the company’s developer conference on Monday.
Recode reported last month that the two sides were nearing a deal, and BuzzFeed News later reported that an agreement had been reached. It’s now official.
